Gail Middleton is a long-time West Brighton resident who is a frequent visitor to all Staten Island Parks. She is always seen with her camera capturing images of scenery and wildlife. She specializes in nature photography and portraits. Having spent a good amount of time traveling when I worked at Pan Am, I became an observer. When I purchased my first camera, I tried to captures moments that were fleeting and unique. All of my original work was stolen in a home invasion. It took several years to be able to pick up a camera again.
I am always amazed by the beauty and power of nature. Images that exist in a moment in time can be captured and preserved and passed on to others. I am the observer and credit our environment and happenstance for the images that are preserved. Middleton has also organized and curate several shows. She was a recipient of a 2013 DCA Premier Grant from COAHSIfor her project Breaking Bread.
